start external script,bat or exe file from inside Archicad

Hi,

I'm new to Archicad and a beginner regarding scripting and/or programming. I'm looking for a way to start a external exe or .bat file from inside Archicad. I have added a new menu entry via workenviroment->menus. can some one help me get started with this, maybe show me an example

I'm not sure what are you trying to achieve. However, this seems not able to work like it. In workenviroment->menus you just refer to internal Archicad commands or addon.

Yes I know, I can see that my explanation is a little off. My intention is to make a add-on to put in that menu entry.. this add-on is supposed to start a external .bat, vbs or exe file of my choice.

I suggest signing up on the ARCHICAD API website and taking a look at some of the example projects. Most of them add at least one menu item, and you could start by just replacing whatever code the example contains.
