Grid on slab surface and sum of the length of the every grid

Hi,

I want to show the grid on slab surface. Then I have to calculate sum of the lengths of the every grid line.
How can I do it? Can any one help me please.

I am attaching the i amge of slab and grid(with hole and without hole).

Do you want to do this using the API?
It isn't difficult, but would you repeat this frequently enough for it to be worthwhile?
