Invisible toolbox elements - archicad 10 edu int

hello,
recently i switched to archicad 10 (edu international) from archicad 9.
and some elements of palettes like toolbox or coordinates are invisible,
i can click them, they work, but i can't see what icon i'm choosing.
Can anybody help me?

(i work on win xp pro, all open GL 3d elements in archicad work properly)

Try switching work environments. It might also be a video card/driver issue.

What are your video cards?

Jean Luc, you mentioned Intel. Is it integrated? That does not bode well ... and the memory is then deifnitely shared.

What are the computer specs? Memory, video memory? If the machines are branded, which exact models are they?

Archicad 10 work out well on
Laptop:Inspiron 1100
Intel(R) Celeron(R) 2.20 Ghz
L2 128Kb
RAM:510Mb
Intel(R) 82845Gl/GE/PE/GV
driver 6.14.10.4342
1024x768 with 32 bit color depth

BUT NOT ON
Dell dimension 2400
Intel(R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.80Ghz
L2 512Kb
RAM:1022Mb
Intel(R) 82845Gl/GE/PE/GV
driver 6.14.10.4342
1024x768 with 32 bit color depth

Therefore I doudt that the problem is related to the video card
or the driver. Moreover so far Archicad 8 and 9 did work on both machines without problem.

Problem described:

crash during the splash screen loading in AC10 on a Dell Precision 390, "The program loads for about 3-4 seconds and crashes"

Resolution:

"crash during the splash screen loading in AC10 on a Dell Precision 390 was caused the presence of wxvault.dll. The solution is to remove the EMBASSY software"

Another user reports:
Uninstall Dell Embassy Trust Suite by Wave Systems
it blocks Wibu-Key Software due to incompatibility with 16-bit application.

Apparently, this is related to a thumbprint security software, and the IT
person had encountered this problem before, albeit for another program. I
do not have this security reader installed, but I believe the computer was
shipped with software to accommodate it. Please pass on this information to
any and all who can benefit from this information.

I want to add that peolpe from graphisoft in Istanbul are not able to answer me. They are more or less arguing that the problem come from
my computer. Interesting.

From my point of view it is a bug that may occur any time with window xp or other. When you have two similar computer with
the same config and the same antivirus (yes it could be a virus...though attacking only archicad 10 is unlikely), for me it is a bug which may spread whenever the config of the computer change (update of windows for instance).

So it would be nice to have a proposal to solve this issue especially when
you have a license like me since Archicad 8 (as we say in France BORDEL !)

is there anyone who has an email from a computer scientist in graphisoft, may he or she will be able to answer me.

Both laptops that you have mentioned have the minimum configuration - even below minimum in the case of Inspiron that works (!)

I strongly suspect that the guys at local support are right - something in your Dell does not agree with 10. The lack of memory does not help ... whatever it is.

Can you try on another machine, maybe a desktop, or a Mac? Is it possible to expand RAM on any of the laptops?

A Dell (again) Oplitex
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4CPU 3.00 GHz
L2 cache: 1024
Memory: 1022Mb
Video card: Intel(R) 82865G Graphic controlled(still integrated)
It works !

I know how that will finish :new installation of windows xp !
I suspect a problem in the registry and a DLL problem.
if someone like "adam eee" encountered the same issue
you can imagine that many others will too

(no new about "adam eee"... would be nice to know his computer
config to compare)

Icons can be empty, if there are too many "USER objects", and the system can not handle it. "USER object" is a kind of system resource, and and refers to interface elements such as icons and buttons. ArchiCAD has lots of them. Try switching off all other applications and see if it helps.

Your reseller is probably right that this is not an ArchiCAD bug, but rather a glitch in your system.

if it is not an archicad 10 bug then it is a microsoft bug.
I reinstalled windows xp home service pack 1 (and all my programs) and it work fine now.

I just spent 3 days about this sh....really nice

I advice to check up if Archi 10 still work after each update or
new installation...

I reinstalled windows xp home service pack 1 (and all my programs) and it work fine now.

service pack 1 ???

I close friend of me was struggling for weeks with AC 10 because of invisible tool palettes. AC 9 was working correctly.

Seemed he had skipped all software updates of WIN XP for over two years. Installing Service Pack 2 did the job.

well I have no idea why but I was not able to update my OS to
service pack 2 (my computer was absolutely not happy about it). I had to re-install pack 1 instead (with my original Cd).
It is a microsoft issue but what kind of issue...I do not know

Hi! At me too this problem, has tried all. Reinstalled Windows, but it has not helped. Precisely to define(determine) because of what there is such problem, who can not.

hello Style,

I don't know if this may help, but when you reinstall the windows xp
you need to avoid a repair installation (It repairs usually nothing).
Do a complete reinstallation
You will so need to install all programs again
