I have had the odd occasion when the smart cursor response has failed in AC & PM. Usually just switching out and back to the program fixes it. I seem to recall once when I had to quit and relaunch to get it working again, but I'm not sure about that.

I am a new user to 8.1 v2. My scissors won't appear when depressing the command key. My eyedropper won't appear when depressing the option key. While filling, the magic wand won't appear when pressing the spacebar. Pressing shift doesn't constrain line angles. Keyboard commands like drag a copy don't work despite being assigned. What am I missing?

sorry . . . couldn't resist!

it does sound as though there is something serious a-foot. are there any noticeably similar problems in other applications? if so, i would suspect hardware/driver trouble.

if not, possibly a bad installation, or a corrupt preference file somewhere in your ~/Library/Preferences/ folder . . . possibly a "com.apple..." keyboard pref file, or even the archiCAD ones themselves . . .

let us know how it goes.
v3, for one ...

Check the video driver, the symptoms you describe point to it.

Which Mac exactly?

It turns out that this problem was only occurring when Entourage was also running. An Entourage update solved the problem. Thanks All.
