You never used the 3D in ArchiCAD? It's very expensive to use only as a 2D-tool.

I suggest to follow at least one course. It'll cost, but you'll gain it back in one project.

Conversion to VectorWorks is indeed done through DWG or DXF.

I used to work on an office that used VectorWorks and had one copy of ArchiCAD to make presentations in 3D. After a while, the ArchiCAD-guy left and they sold ArchiCAD and bought 2 new Mac's and three VW-licenses with the money. I wasn't working there at the time or I could have proven them wrong.

<T>i have just been commissioned to convert archicad 7 file ( from usa) to vectorworks file ( bc). due to time constraint, i saved archicad file to dwg and opened them in vectorworks. everything seemed well. i haven't worked with archicad 3d yet because i find the GDL book too 'scary' to read. anyways, i was asked to try to model the drawings in vectorworks and within 1 hour, i did it and it was so very very easy. Polygon- Extrude-and placed them according in the Views.

how is archicad 3d worked? i was given a brief introduction by GSNCE when they were in BC a while ago and i found it so confusing. maybe it is the too many attributes thing that got me scared!

anyways, back to vectorworks and archicad later.</T>
