Splitting a dome

Hi,

I was wondering if there is any way to split a dome in half in a zig-zag pattern? The reason for this is that I wish to alter the materials of each half as well as their attributes. I thought about slicing through, but have had no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you made your dome using the roof tool I think you
could edit the shape of the little roofs to get the edge of the
dome to be the way you want.

Thanks for the reply, however I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "editing the shape of the little roofs". Would you be able to ellaborate a little bit for me please.

The roof tool makes dome and barrel vault shapes by making
the roof shape out of little roofs that are made with varying pitches.
This is only true of the roof tool and the Mesh to Roof add-on.
