Eduardo, sdodd, thanks for the insight and help. Quicken was the culprit. Once removed from login and restarted, everything works fine.

Problems after update to Mac OS 10.4.3

<T>After updating to OS 10.4.3 and then relaunching Archicad 9 with the latest hotfix, I can't use the shift key to constrain angles, the option key for pick up and put down attributes, and the command key for trim etc. I have tried a new and reset all file with the same results. Other keyboard shortcuts seem to work fine. Blood pressure is rising as I use these keys constantly. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any ideas. Thanks.</T>

Please don't be offended if I suggest a restart.

Sometimes the system gets confused. I occasionally have the machine ignore certain keyboard commands when in ArchiCAD. A Force ReLaunch of the Finder seems to fix it.

as dwight said - often a restart will fix up things like that. when you carry out any installation at system level it's also advisable to repair permissions and perform a general clean-up followed by a restart - it just blows the dust off and leaves things shiny and fresh . . .

do a search - there are several threads relating to OSX clean-ups and running post-installation system tools here in this forum . . .
Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried all that as well as reinstalling archicad but to no avail. The only solution I have found to work is to go back to os 10.4.2 - everything works fine then, but I don't like not having the latest os update. Still open to any other suggestions before I have to do an archive and install. Thanks

I figured it out. I think. It appears to be a conflict with a part of Quicken that opened at start up to automatically update accounts. I deleted that from start up items and got the functionality back. Thanks for your help.

sdood - I have the same problem

I have the exact same shift-constraint, option-command issues that started when just after I installed Quicken 2006 and enabled the Scheduled Update feature that pops up upon system start up. Unfortunately I can't seem to remove/disable it. If it worked for you, I hope it will work for me. What exactly did you do? Thanks in for any help.
I think that should do it
