The square brackets around the font name means that the font is not installed on your system, so you can't use it.

It will simply display with a plain Arial font although it will say it is [Arial Narrow Baltic} as it is keeping the font name for when it is installed on your system..

Hello, I want to revive a long-forgotten topic regarding font replacement between Windows and Mac platforms. I've followed a detailed guide on how to do this: https://community.graphisoft.com/t5/Project-data-BIM/Replacing-missing-fonts-between-Macintosh-and-Windows/ta-p/303516, but in the XreadCfg.txt file, under "Available character sets on Windows and Macintosh platforms," there is no "BALTIC_CHARSET." I found online that it might be code 186.

Under "Available conversion table IDs," there is no "Baltic" entry either.

My XreadCfg.txt setup is:

DEFMACTOWINCONVTABLE = 29
DEFWINTOMACCONVTABLE = 0
FONTPAIR = "Arial Narrow baltic", 238, "Arial Narrow", 0, 0

It's not working. When I open the drawing from Windows on a Mac, the Arial Narrow characters are displayed as [Arial Narrow baltic]. So, the substitution isn't happening..

Does "Arial Narrow baltic" normally show up on your font list in the Windows environment?

Hello.

I know what the square brackets mean. The font I'm using as an example is "Arial Narrow," and it's installed on both macOS and Windows systems. I suspect that the font substitution setup isn't working because the (186?) Baltic encoding used on Windows for Baltic countries like Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia doesn't equal the 238 Eastern European encoding you advise using in the XreadCfg.txt file. So, please tell me what to correct in my XreadCfg.txt file on macOS so that it substitutes the Arial Narrow font with Baltic encoding from Archicad on Windows to Arial Narrow on Archicad on macOS.

I'm adding a few more screenshots to prove that Arial Narrow is installed on both platforms.

My XreadCfg.txt setup is:

DEFMACTOWINCONVTABLE = 29
DEFWINTOMACCONVTABLE = 0
FONTPAIR = "Arial Narrow baltic", 238, "Arial Narrow", 0, 0

We have a mixed-platform environment in our office, and it causes problems when we are working in Teamwork or just sharing files between different platforms. The goal is to have identical drawings on both platforms.

Looks like I've ran into this problem as well. Is there a fix for this at all? Looks like this was posted back in Jan 2025.

Would love to see the graphisoft team address this little bug

Hello, unfortunately GS has no reaction on this problem. I will try to address this problem to our local distributor and hope they will deal with GS directly over its chanels . As soon as they will find solution I will post it there.
