topic Exclude sub-elements from schedules in Project data & BIM

Hello. With the arrival of more and more complex elements, first railings and stairs, then beams and columns, we are running into problem when creating schedules. We use some general schedules that lists most 3d objects to check their properties and data values, but only care about the top element, not the sub-elements (i.e. rail end, column segment, handrail connection etc.). However in schedules they all show up unless specifically excluded, and there are many.

So I was wondering if there is a method or some property to separate top level elements from sub-elements, especially moving forward if more and more tools will be reworked in this way.

The linked wish seems archived but no progress has been made on this as far as I can tell. I'd like to bump this or turn it into a wish, if any admins are reading.
