Cost Calculation Schedule

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to create a schedule that will calculate costs based on the square footage of building materials used. I want a set cost assigned to each material * the area of each material = the cost per material. I cannot figure out what the issue with my schedule is that's causing it not to work. For simplicity, I assigned gypsum board a value of $1/S.F. until i get everything figured out. Everything is classified properly, and my properties are set to be available for all classifications. There are no error messages in the expression. I've tried changing the variable types to no avail. Please help 😞 See screenshots below -

Hi @awhite

Try to change Data type for Cost per S.F. to number instead of string so you don't need to convert it.

Note: Expressions cannot be evaluated for properties assigned to Building Materials.

I guess you're usei g component schedule for quantity takeoff, in this case, propreties based on formulas won't work for you,

Do you want to use building material quantities or the composite quantities (gypsum board vs gypsum wall)?
I've been using this properties for QTO of composites (check the screenshots). But I use element based schedules.

Have you tried working with macros on excel? Maybe it would be easier to achieve the result you're looking for.
