topic Fill in Symbol Fill definition in Project data & BIM

Did you guys know that you can use Fills in the pattern definition of a Symbol Fill? I just accidentally found out about this when by mistake I selected a Fill in addition to a Line, Arc, and Hotspot while drawing the intended Symbol Fill pattern and copy-pasting it in the Fills Dialog. I thought only Lines, Arc/Circles, and Hotspots could be used (not even Polylines).

This capability opens up some new possibilities.

Here is an example:

Two notes:

Since a Symbol Fill has one Fill Pattern Pen setting (the whole pattern of the Fill uses the same Pen), all fills in the placed Symbol Fill will be displayed with the same Pen even if the source Fills are using diffrent Pens.

I have not checked so I don't know if having Fills in Symbol Fill definitions affects file size or performance in any way when these Symbol Fill definitions become complex and there are many such Symbol Fill definitions in the project file. We know that using lots of arc/circles in the definition of Symbol Lines and Symbol Fills can have such effect, so this is just something to keep in mind.

Operating system used: Windows 11 23H2

they sure can affect performance. we have a background tree fill that makes elevations suffer the first time you open them. turning off 'true fill appearance' stops it from happening however.
