Sort by Home Storey name not sorting alphabetically

Can we please fix the scheduling of elements/ objects by "home storey name"?

Currently (since at least AC27) it sorts by "home storey number" regardless of how you set it.

If you want to sort "home storey name" alphabetically, you can't.

This is particularly helpful when scheduling HLMs created on negative storeys when they haven't been created 'logically' with the above in mind.

Operating system used: Windows 6020

How do you have your home storey name field sorting?

Yes, try naming them all randomly like this.

What it's doing is looking at the Home storey number and ignoring the name.

You are correct.

The name does not matter.

I guess the logic is that it makes sense for the storeys should be displayed in their physical order.

Obviously this is not what you want.

Maybe create a wish for this and I would also report this to your local support - they may be able to offer a better reason or request this to be changed as well.

The only work around I can think of is to create separate schedules for each storey and then arrange them as you want on the layout.

Only thing is I can't see a way yo completely hide the headers if you want to join them all together.

Definitely an erroneous behavior and should be fixed.

Another workaround would be to add custom text field and give sorting numbers and then

hide that field.

You should be able to make a property with the story name and then schedule that. I would suspect the property will follow logic in sorting.

We do this for a different reason (we need to trim off the start of the name field).

If you make a string property with expression for 'home story name' that should work. Just assign it to all classifications and as long as elements have some classification, it should work.
