      <description>&lt;DIV class="actalk-migrated-content"&gt;&lt;T&gt;admittedly i'm pretty new to the bim approach, but after almost one year of bim execution of the project a few questions emerged.&lt;BR /&gt;
&lt;BR /&gt;
the one i want to talk about is the level-of-detail according to the model progression specification (by vico) reduced to the walls: from our limited experience the initial fast approach with only the core structure proved inefficient.&lt;BR /&gt;
for the walls the only working solution would be positioning them by the center line, which is not very convenient while drawing them, as the dimensioning requires the border locating. &lt;BR /&gt;
after we added plaster and other finishings in the next design phase the walls moved from their initial position, leaving us with multiple corrections of zones and walls themselves. and this is only one of the examples.&lt;BR /&gt;
&lt;BR /&gt;
i realize the above may be too obvious for full-fledged bimers, but nevertheless i'd like to know how do you go about such tasks?&lt;BR /&gt;

You need to pay attention to the location of the &lt;FONT color="blue"&gt;Reference Line&lt;/FONT&gt; and its &lt;FONT color="blue"&gt;Offset&lt;/FONT&gt; value when placing walls. For example, if you have created a Composite wall with 2" Finish and 8" Core, then the Reference Line Offset should be set to 2", so the Reference Line is along the Core face inside the Finish. This will leave the wall in place as you switch between Core Only and Entire Model. The Reference Line is the element of the wall that remains in the same place when the wall thickness is changed.&lt;BR /&gt;
