topic Starting new projects and looking for history of elements like a bathroom fixtures or any models in Project data & BIM

In Microstation we open a new job and can immediately open any other job and can grab entire area like a men's and women's bathroom in a Assembly building.

And then place it in my new model (all items are visible version does not matter and I go to the next task of adding or deleting fixtures. I can pull up a job 30years ago and any cell cancel and actually any object, cell, etc. is a copy and paste.

Currently in Archicad - every time I start a new project I want to copy , but cannot. I have to start over on every new job..

I have 30 years of cad files. And all immediately usable in Microstation but I am required to update every toilet, urinal, door window, stall ..... on every job.

Am I missing something? This is backwards and a waste. My libraries grows in Mstation but dies version to version in archicad.

You can copy and paste just fine in Archicad as well.

Just be careful with objects if you are copying from 27 and older into 28 and newer.

The libraries are not compatible, so you need to still load the old libraries for the old objects to work.

Or replace them as you have already discovered.
