<T>We are looking for a BIM planning guideline. Does anyone know of anything like that? This would encompass detailed planning the BIM project and include plans for interoperability, uses of the model, and so on.
I've seen the "Big Building White paper" and similar kinds of "best practices". Just wondering of there is anything other guidelines that could provide some direction.
Thanks,
One piece of the puzzle would be VICO's (I think this is VICO's) notion of a Model Progression Specification.

Architecture is a process of articulation and specification. This notion is a great way to think of BIM as a process - that is to say that you don't have to and shouldn't have to decide everything today. This tendency is THE BIGGEST misconception anyone can have as to what parametric design software is or should be. The MPS is one framework that assists in this regard because its about sequencing the work in a sustainable workflow. You could use this as is or adapt the idea to your own enterprise.
Thanks for the posts.
- We already own the BIM Handbook. It <S></S>is<E></E> a useful resource.
- I found the VICO outline. It will be useful as well. It is similar to AIA's E202 protocol exhibit.

If anyone else has additional resources, I am open for additional suggestions.

Does the BIM Guide Series from the GSA help?

There's also Resources at the bottom of this page by John Stebbins:

http://www.digitalvis.com/bim/

Just to name a couple.
Cheers,
FYI - I found the BEST planning guide for BIM. It appears to be a Grad Student's work and not quite complete yet, but extremely thorough.
