Slow updating of Hotlink Manager window

In the last few days or so I have noticed that AC14 is now very slow to update the Hotlink Manager window. It's also very slow at just doing the File Menu "Open" command just to go and open another drawing. Whether these two things are related I have no idea but I wondered if anyone else had this problem and found a way to sort it?

I have experienced the slowness in opening a file. The prefrences had become corrupt. Deleting them solved the problem. I wonder if it would also help the module loading time.
