Zones and Hotlink Issues

I'm working on an AC 18 Teamwork project.

I've set my zones to look the way I want them in the Mod file. When I hotlink the mod into my main file, the zones revert back to their original settings. I've tried altering the zones in the mod and the main file but nothing seems to be working. Should I include zones in the main file instead?

If you are working on a file that is going to be hotlinked to another (or even parts of it copy & pasted into another file) and you want to change attributes (zones, fills, composites, layers, etc.) then you can do it one of two ways.

One is to modify the existing attributes but then you must use the Attribute Manager to overwrite those modified attributes into your main file otherwise they will simply revert back to what they were before when you hotlink the file in.

Or the second method is to duplicate any attribute you need to modify - leaving the original exactly as it was.
By duplicating an attribute you are creating a completely new one that will not be altered when you hotlink it in to the main file.
The new attribute will simply be added to the main file and will remain exactly as you want it.

Remember also that the attributes of the main pln will overrule any attributes defined in the mod file

Thanks for the responses. That helps a lot. I was thinking it had something to do with the attributes and was trying match them. I'll continue working on that. I recently started a new job that needs a lot of help with their ArchiCAD standards so I'm figuring it out as needed. My next big project is standardizing the attributes.

One other thing. I've created an .aat file of the zones I want to overwrite in my master file. When I go to the Attribute Manager, load my zones, and select them, it does not give me an option to overwrite. I only have the option to append.

Welp, I figured out what I was doing wrong.... I was forgetting to save my changes in the mod files. I was just saving them in their .pln files. I'm an idiot. :cry:
