It's a great tip but it didn't work. I tried the forward merge on both files to cover all the bases. The odd thing is we have the file hotlinked into two different files and it has the same problem in both files as well as new.

<DIV class="actalk-migrated-content"><T>We have a multi-building project with the parts hotlinked into one site file. However one story of one of the files fails to update in the linked projects. To the point of even if I close the project and create a new drawing and import the story fresh the "old" or incorrect story comes in. But if I do a new and reset document the story hotlinks in correctly. As soon as I go back to existing projects or open a new project immediately after the story comes in wrong. I am desperate for ideas. Of course this is happening right before a deadline.</T></DIV>

Try the Forward merge technique as described by Eric Batte in Tips&amp;Tricks forum

Found It! One of the composite walls in the original file had been changed but the hotlinking files had not been updated. When we updated the changed composite wall would not update. Went to attribute manager and overwrote the old composite and the wall updates instantly. One more coordination item to watch but now that I know what to look for not that big a deal.
