Surinder, this is a very basic question. Has your reseller in Hyderabad given your firm the usual 2 day training or have they just thrown you in at the deep end?

Get hold of the interactive training guides from here and follow them through when you can. You will learn a lot!

surender:

For information with images, go to Help > ArchiCAD Help, when your browser opens click on the "Search" tab, and input "layer combinations" in the search box, in the results list "Layer Settings Dialog Box" will lead to detailed information.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
Quick Layers is a very important tool in setting up Layer Combinations.

Starting from the Menu bar click on Windows - Palettes - Quick Layers.
By null at 2010-03-16

Using the Quick Layers palette turn of every layer you don't want to see the Layer Combination your making. Then select all of the objects and using the Quick Layers palette again click Hide Others' Layer to turn off all other layers to make sure any layers not showing at the time are not unintentionally included. Now use Ctrl-L to open the Layer Settings (Model views) window. Click New, and name your new layer combination. Click OK. Now when you open the View, it will use the Layer Combination you just created. Right click on your View, select View Settings to see what Layer Combination is associated with the view.
