Karl wrote:
t I would urge a little caution on the concepts and suggest reviewing some of the many pen and pen set discussions here on ac-talk.

In particular, do note that the library uses pens 1 through 10 and changing the colors and weights of these will affect the defaults for newly placed library parts, perhaps requiring parameter adjustments of each newly placed part. And, if you interact with US/Canadian users, our library still uses pen 91 as the white pen. (Similarly, North American users should note that the international library uses pen 19 as white ... and so if you might bring in any INT parts, you might keep both 19 and 91 as white.)

There are reasons for masks and poches to have a white weight ramp, and reasons for having a grayscale ramp. Also, reasons for having multiple pen tables to re-map the weights and colors of elements for different types of drawings and different scales.
l

Yes, I agree.
My initial intention was to share my personal work with Davide (Bearing in mind that I'm using AC12 INT version and for one specific Office Standards)
I don't know the differences with other versions of AC, But the principle remains: Rows and Columns.

And thanks again for the nice comments!

<R>I read the article PEN SET http://www.archicadwiki.com/Pen%20Sets and i know that there is a different setting of pen set from international -italian version from USA version. I like to know how American-English user works with pen set , in Italy there no habit to cad standards, if they use internal pen set andwith which logical they shape pen set. I ask because i try to create my personal cad standards, and i want to study and know the different approach to work.
sorry for my bad english.
If someone have pdf example of pen set or layer standard and want to help me. thanks
Hi Davide
The image attached is an example of PEN SET standard protocol that I have produced.
It shows the basic ROWS/COLUMNS organization of the PEN table.

I hope this helps
Is there a general consensus on mm vs. pt on pen weight? I have been going between a couple different sets but really unable to decide what I like. I think it might be time to develop my own. Nando, I love the way you organize yours! Just out of curiosity what elements/objects default to the pens in that last column? I would love to see what you are using for your pen weights , so many sets that I have tried print WAAAAAy too heavy.
Wow!
I never thought those 3 images could cause such a nice impression.
Thanks for your nice comments Davide, "whatever", Srinivas, Lec, Chris and Miguel.
You can put it in your own Blogs if you want, just don't forget to mention my name.

Srinvas, I normally use Keynote (Mac's powerpoint) for these protocols.

Miguel, muito obrigado, Eu tambem gosto das suas dicas. O seu blog e um dos melhores.

Chris, thanks for your wishes. Honestly I barely use that last column. But to avoid the problem of the waaaaay to heavy lineweights I use 2 or 3, one from 1:1 to 1:10, other for 1:25 to 1:75, and other for 1:100 and above (obviously depending on the project and some common sense).
As a general criteria: <S></S>As the scale goes up, the pen-weights goes down.<E></E>

If some of you are interested, I can share some other protocols Ihave made in the same way (hotlinking module files) (organizing the Navigator) etc...
Thanks to everyone.
Having used Rapidograph pens and Pentel mechanical pencils with hand-drafting, I learned their mm system of line weights. (Worked for couple of Proj Mgr's who were very strict about good line weights).

mm has been my preference since I started producing const. docs in CAD back in the late 1980s and then with ArchiCAD in '93.
The images are really beautiful, but I would urge a little caution on the concepts and suggest reviewing some of the many pen and pen set discussions here on ac-talk.

Still, I think Nando's concept - if adjusted for library issues - is a simple and clean one to understand and may work well for many who are just starting to explore the power of pens and pen sets.

Cheers,

Karl wrote:
t I would urge a little caution on the concepts and suggest reviewing some of the many pen and pen set discussions here on ac-talk.
