Thanks for the reply.

Well of course I use Q.L. dialog for some things, but....
Well that might be better if the little booger didn't have to be chased down every time I reopen AC, And in same breath, if it had additional button for L.C. up and then out, then maybe that would do it.
And seen too many "lost faith in the wishes" laments here, so seems like a waste of time, as I feel it's more likely to be seen here.

<T>As screens get larger, I would really like to keep the Layers dialog open with
all the same controls, but with one more that says Activate-changes-Keep dialog-open.
Any comments?</T>

I thought that there was a wish-poll for this from years ago, but cannot find it.

Over the years, many have wished for a 'modeless' layers dialog - with an Apply button as you're suggesting, or maybe having immediate effect upon making a layer visible/invisible, etc.

You might want to start on in the User Interface Wishes forum?

Once you have your layer combos set up well, and use the QuickLayers palette regularly, the need for a modeless layers dialog may not be that great though.

Cheers,
Thanks for the reply Stewart

If only that would work here.
Must have tried that 20 times, in 12 and 14 yet other tools/dialogs I set up in WE stay.
What magic trick am I missing?

Update on Q.L. dialog post.

Funny thing happened today.
When I opened a 14 file Q.L. was there.
So just for fun I went' through the WE and did updates, but as soon as I hit OK, the little booger went away.
Brought it back up again, re-updated WE, in stayed on this time, closed file, opened again Quick Layers dialog GONE, as is usually the case

Yes, it is a known and long-standing issue with QuickLayers position and visibility not being saved as part of a Palette Scheme. Apparently this is not easy to fix as QL is handled by an add-on and not the core program.

Has been discussed often here over the years, and GS knows that it frustrates us, so we can only hope for a solution in some future version.

In the meantime, the easiest thing for visibility is to assign a shortcut key to the palette. For example, while I have cmd-L for the layers palette, I have cmd-shift-L for QuickLayers.

Cheers,

Yes I know Q.L. has been ranted on many times, and PC users have ctr L, but my main point was about expanded use of Q.L. if it ever gets "fixed".
And I have Layer control button in my own Custom ToolBox. But I think issue is still valid.
