Using different layer combos in your work view and in the Trace reference will slow down display, though.</description>

      <description>Another way of controlling what appears in the Trace Reference is selecting in the Trace Reference Palette what element types you want displayed. That is also a filtering capability.&lt;BR /&gt;
This options is available only on the Trace Reference Palette. It is not available in the Trace &amp;amp; Reference button on the standard Toolbar.</description>

This is true. Try selecting a view from the project map to improve performance. Plus, layers will respond to what is currently visible in the view you are working in.</description>
