hello everybody
Is there a way to control the amount of layers that appear in the scrolling list within the tool's dialog box while using the layer combination?

The only option is to hide the locked layers. This preference is at Options > Work Environment > User Preference Schemes > Dialog Boxes and Palettes.

I like this option because you can't select locked layers anyway, so they really just take up space.

Not directly, no.

The fly-outs display all layers that are unlocked. It's usually a good idea to set all layers that are Hidden to also be Locked.

If you have a lot of layers turned on, I do not believe there is a way to limit which ones/how many are shown.

Hey - I'll be living down there in a couple of months mate - I'm sure if we have enough Speight's and really think hard on it we could come up with something? May have nothing to do with ArchiCAD, but I'm sure we could impress someone!

that reminds me of a quote from a longserving conseravtive prime minister of NZ in the seventies called Robert "piggy" Muldoon on the high level migration of kiwis to Australia.
