<T>I'm trying to set up the new template supplied by GS. I see how I can transfer layers and layer combinations to the new template. However, it looks like the transfered layer combos do not retain their settings of layer on and off, only the names are transferred.

Also, how can I transfer the display options to the new template. I do not want to spend a bunch of time setting everything up again. It seems like it all should be able to be transferred to the new template, otherwise, nobody is going to use it.</T>

i've always found that when using 'attribute manager' to transfer layer combinations, the relevant layers have to be in place first . . . transfer your layers>click 'apply' then 'ok' . . . repeat for layer combinations . . .
Ahhhhh Tom - you're thinking all backwards mate!

Use Attribute Manager to transfer from the new template into YOUR template!
Link:

I don't think there is anything in there that I know to transfer. The instructions for the new template in the AC library update indicated to get best results with the new library to use the new template.

The layer settings, combos, and display options are already set the way I want them in the old template; I wouldn't transfer new ones from the new template.

Also, I believe I did transfer the layers first as indicated in the previous reply. I did save, close, then reopened later between transfers. I wonder if that messed up the process. I'll try the whole process again.

You don't need the new layers and combos, if you don't want them. Or cities. In fact since my templates were based of original US New & Resets, the only thing I imported were the fills & materials!
The new materials work realliy nicely if you do a lot of Lightworks renderings. I believe there were a few new fills as well. I did not think the new layers and layer combinations were all that exciting, since we have our own layering system already.

Like Link (hey, nice alliteration!), I just used Attribute Manager to import the materials & fills.

so how did you get the layering system, layer combos, and display options from your old to the new template, or did you take the new materials and fills to the old template you typically use?

I imported the new materials and fills into my current template. I have so many tool settings and viewsets in there, it would take a lot to recreate it all in a brand new file from Graphisoft!

If you look at Options -> Attribute Manager, you can use this dialog to import settings from one file to another. The settings that can be transferred are:

<S></S>

Layers

<S></S>

Layer Combinations

<S></S>

Line types

<S></S>

Composites

<S></S>

Fills

<S></S>

Zone Categories

<S></S>

Materials
