So it's a valid question, and the simple answer is that Archicad and BIMx have different uses for different people.

So for example, why can't you hide a door in Archicad without also hiding the wall? This is a deliberate decision for the editing software, because this tells Archicad users that doors need to have a wall that it's linked to, you can't place a wall mid-air, you always need a wall for it.

But for a BIMx user (a client/ customer/ project manager/ etc) it's not relevant how Archicad works, for them it just matters that they can hide an element so that they can see what's behind it.

Also, BIMx is an export, it's not an editable file. So in a 3D view in BIMx there's basically just a bunch of 3D geometry, it's not editable.

But in Archicad, this geometry is highly editable and embedded in all the systems that Archicad uses. And this is another reason why they act differently.

Hope this makes it more intuitive.

Inconsistency between BIMx & Archicad

1) I can hide a door in BIMx while I can't do the same in Archicad.

2) I can right click & hide any element directly in BIMx while I've to first select the element then right click & hide selection.

3) Now, I see when hiding the wall in BIMx it doesn't hide the door attached to it while in Archicad the door becomes hidden with the host wall, why?

Hi @Laurentiu,

I agree with you that both of them have different uses, but architects & engineers are not different users.

Architects & engineers who use Archicad also use BIMx to present & collaborate, they may also like to hide a wall body to see clearly how the door frame is fixed or to exactly measure the clean opening size.

the point is, why not to hide only the door or only the wall (the same way) in both Archicad & BIMx, if it's a valid option, why not?

Also, to hide the element in Archicad by 2 clicks (Right click & Hide element) as in BIMx rather than the current 3 clicks, for faster & easier Archicad.

*Only a small note but interesting to me, thanks.
