When you place any elements there is a gravity tool you can activate.
I am sure it has a mesh option.
Barry is correct. It can be accessed via the Coordinates palette.

Hello,

I am making a landscape object that would usually be placed on a mesh. A mesh doesn't necessarily have all its points at the same Z level so I would like to know if, while in plan view, it's possible to force an object to be placed at the proper Z value?

In 3D, it works as the origin point gets to the accurate Absolute Base Height but when in plan view, the object is placed at the story level (which is normal behavior obviously). Is it possible to make it so that when I click on the mesh where I want the objet to be, the object could somehow "read" the mesh height and place itself there ?

But, be aware that Gravity works only during placement. If you later modify your Mesh so its top surface changes, those Objects placed using Gravity will not follow the changes in the top surface. No such associativity is created between the Object and the Mesh.
In such a case, you may have to place those Objects again with Gravity to ensure proper vertical position.
