Hi,

Is anyone else experiencing extremely slow speeds and lags with the new GDL tool in Archicad 27?

I am experiencing this when I have 2 object tabs open and I try and write in any of the scripting windows. Copying and pasting script from one object to the other is probably the biggest lag that happens. I am using Windows 11, not sure if this is an OS problem, hardware problem or simply a bug in Archicad 27.

Cheers,

Shaun.

Hey Shaun,

Yep - massively slow and gets slower the more objects you have open. I have found that if you are using a widescreen monitor - resize Archicad down smaller so it is like 1024 x 768 or something and the new GDL editor will be quite a bit faster.

Hope this helps until we get a fix from GS.

Cheers,

Danny

Sounds like they aren't going to fix it. I got the whole, "we do not support GDL related issues" from Central Innovation. They claim this is what Graphisoft said. So I am not overly optimistic we will have a fix for this soon.

It is not a GDL coding issue - I can understand they may not support that.

It is a program issue if the editor is not behaving as it should.

Same issue here. Tried following steps without effect:

dock all windows (I tend to have floating windows when doing GDL scriping)

disconnect second monitor

set screen resolution of MacBook Pro back to "standard"

The lagging in the typing is really annoying as it stops the "flow" constantly, especially when you're fixing typing errors (backspace "crosses" other key strokes...).

I also noticed that the menu bar at the very top is blinking at every key stroke...

(I recorded the sound of me typing - emphasizes the lag... - apologies for "breathing" sounds 😅)

Refer to this topic: https://community.graphisoft.com/t5/GDL/GDL-editor-AC27-far-from-being-usable/td-p/581752

maybe we should ask for merging the topics...as more people started to feel the pain with the new editor 😛

the only one thing is faster than in the old one: search an replace... 😛

The first thing I would make the syntax plug switch which is absent...the syntax highlight is the resource hog in this implementation.

how are you sure it is the syntax plug?

When typing comments, the syntax plug should not be doing any intensive work? But even then there is lag...

Is there any update on Graphisoft's end? Does anyone know if this is an issue with Archicad 28 or 29 as well?

Also and update from my end. When using Archicad via Microsoft Remote Desktop. The GDL window is painfully slow even with just 1 object open.

I am led to believe from my IT specialist that DirectX and OpenGL can be enabled via changing some configurations on the host machine, RDP app and the graphics driver app. DirectX and OpenGL appear to be working on my end.

Guess your IT specialist found some way to force AC to launch with DirectX, or maybe there has been an update to it with Win11. I was needing to use a 3rd party remote app to launch AC, but while that worked, the performance over RDP was horrendous that I just stopped using it for AC work...

Other than the GDL IDE, AC is performing fine over RDP? Maybe something else is not initialising properly over RDP?

RDP is just a terminal. The host machine has to be equipped with appropriate video card and then the connecting one just works like a remote monitor. the only thing important is the fair internet connection.
