topic Betreff: array dimensions locked in GDL

Hi Patrick, it's not the most intuitive, but the solution is simple: Click on either of the "1", then the "Insert" button on the right will come active.

Now you can add new rows or columns depending on which you selected, e.g. when the left "1" was selected, you get a new row, making the array having two items, but still one dimension, denoted as "[2]".

If you add columns you will get a two-dimensional array "[rows][columns]".

Please be aware that there is a bug that one the first time this dialog is opened and closed the value (or rather the dimensional order) in the parameter view of the GDL editor does not update.

E.g. here the "[2]" shows that the "myarray" holds two rows of data. The first time I closed that dialog it still showed "[1]".

Pro tip: If you need to set a large number of rows and columns it will be easier to just temporarily write that with a loop and the PARAMETERS command.

You can than immediately delete that code again; the array will not shrink back.
