I actually really like the JM10 version of the detail cutline.

I did find some problems and fixed them up. I think the issue was that the code referred to a fill which is not default on the later ArchiCAD templates, hence it works fine for some and not others ...

Either way, I tidied it up and it seems to work fine for me.

See attached.

PS. The guy who created the object has a very good website:

<T>I am using the Cutline JM10 on my detail, but it doesn't hide one side of the cutline, so I have to draw white fills myself. The mask settings don't do a thing at all, is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?</T>

James Murray's "Cutline JM10" library part is a free download from bimcomponents.com (accessed directly in the objects settings dialog) and is 'as-is'. It's not a Graphisoft library part.

I just tried it and was surprised to see that enabling the mask does not display the mask any longer - tried in AC 16. It had worked in AC 10, for which it was designed. Looked at the code and the problem didn't jump out at me.

I've been using a different break-line object by David Larrew and recommend it. It is a free download from David's site here:
http://www.archisolutions.com/store/GDL-2D_note.html

There is another cutline object that is public that also masks correctly, written by Nando Magollon. You can find it here:

Thanks so much. I happened to have saved the JM10 and white fills together as one object, and it works fine for my current drawing, but if I needed to make modifications to the loop etc. I would need to re-draw. Now I won't have to bother wasting time on such tedious tasks.

I also found some other useful things at www.archisolutions.com, thanks for recommending. Just one thing, why didn't ArchiCAD include this important symbol in the main library? It would save time for newbies like me if it did

It's a mystery why this part is not in the factory library... as it is required for creating most details... We old timers have learned to not ask... just roll with it. <E>😉</E>

Unless an error was introduced in the bimcomponents version, Jame's cutline object works just fine. The trick is that the mask is flipped side to side. Use the moveable hotspots and stretch them to the opposite side that they initially appear on and all should be well.
