<T>hello all,
I haven't been on here in a while but here's my question:

Where can I get a double sliding pocket door where the 2 panels reside only on one side of the door sliding area? Right now the single pocket door I see don't have the option to add another door panel. Please advise. The object I'm looking for is basically the "pocket door" but with a second panel on the same side as the first panel. By "same side" I mean two door panels that slide into one pocket on one side of the assembly.</T>

How does that work?
Wouldn't it mean that the two door panels are locked together to act as one?

I would make a custom door panel that looks like two door panels side by side and then use that in the single pocket door (doubling the width of the frame).
thanks Barry.
The two doors are not necessarily locked as one.
Let me see if I can explain it with words...I'm better at explaining on a sketch but here goes.
imagine a pocket door with one leaf, well just add another and make the pocket area wider.

When you pull on the one pocket door, the other leaf doesn't come out until the first leaf is fully extended, then the second pocket leaf panel is pulled by the end of the first....I'm surprised Archicad doesn't have a "door number" in the pocket door object for how many pocket door leafs we can add....oh well.

Ahh I get it.
I hardly ever use pocket doors and I was thinking a narrow internal wall that would only have the width for one panel - not 2 sliding next to each other.
Thanks for the explanation.
Searched and couldn't find one, Tim... but... the new Search feature in the settings dialog helps here with at least the basic pocket door.

The US "D1 Pocket 17" has the same messed up behavior that it has had since AC 6.5: it has no concept of the wall thickness and sticks the door slab against the face of the wall instead of centering it.

By searching for "pocket" in the Door Settings Dialog, I came up with "Pocket Door 17" which must be in the International library... it is works properly - reading the wall thickness and centering the pocket properly.

So, heads-up to all on that anyway...

On this double-pocket thing: I've never seen one in real life. (Well, other than ballroom temporary dividing walls, which is something else.) How common are these in new construction? What manufacturer?

All the goofy pocket doors you want are in my library:

Go to my site, www.dmsdesign.us, hit the 'links' button on left menu bar; My full GDL library is available for download at the bottom of the page. You'll need the full 'DMS Doors' folder, so it can access all the macros. My single-direction model lets you choose how many leaves you'd like.

Sometimes, I just do it with an empty opening (with a schedulable marker) and put the leaves in as separate objects. Depends on the situation.

Karl - Use giant pocket doors in the tropics all the time... They're pretty awesome. Look at the Kohala Makai house on my projects page.

They're also very common on Kiwi and Aussie houses.

Oh yeah... Manufacturer!...

Dave Whitehill makes a hardware kit that you marry to your own leaves in the field. Link: www.dwfloortrack.com

ETA:

There's Fleetwood, too. They'll make almost any kind of door you want. Milgard is also making big-span sliders now, but they don't pocket.

Thanks, Dave. What I see on your site is not what I would call pocket doors? I would call those Nana Walls / sliding walls with a framed housing. Not that I know! I always thought that a pocket door was a door that would fit into a standard, continuous, framed wall... with the studs being placed flat for the pocket so that the wall thickness remained the same as the rest of the framed wall?

Thanks for a reminder to more thoroughly look through your amazing library that you have gifted to all of us! <E>:-)</E>
Thanks Karl and Dave, you guys are always really, really helpful!
Sorry I am just responding, found this in my junk folder...
Karl, we try to use double pocket doors on interior to be have the ability to open up or between 2 rooms and have a large opening. We really need these door in a variety of panels 2,3,4 or more and either stacked or pocketing. A 2 panel stacking pocket unit is what I am looking for specifically right now.
We used Dave's 4 panel stacking door, I think, here on a stacking exterior door on a brewing company to be able to stack 3 of the panels on the fixed one and have a 9ft opening onto sidewalk 'bistro' seating, or to close it down as needed. I will take some pics and post. These doors are lift and slide units and work fantastic. A local door and window craftsman produces them locally.
Thanks Dave great library parts and insights!
GO Broncos!!!
