Ok I get it so the only way is to draw the opening lines. As far as the door frame is concerned, not being able to change its colour is silly, since you can change the pen colour of the rest of the storefront. What is the purpose of this? Also since fills are ignored then the possibility of doing a large scale plan of a glass storefront with glass door panels is non-existent. Does this mean I would have to draw it separately? Again what is the practical purpose of this?

Sorry if this sounds like a rant.

<T>Hi all,

I just changed the projection of a storefront from symbolic to projected with the scale at 1:50. Although the object preview window shows the opening lines, on the plan there are no lines. Have I done something with the settings? Does the Projected view not support opening lines?

Thank you</T>

I've noticed similar behavior with the D1 or D2 doors.

Seems like some door settings have been changed with AC15. I'm also used to projection display showing the door swing opening lines but in AC15 it does not. Showing it as symbolic will show the swing opening lines. I'd prefer to use the projected display over symbolic but haven't had the time to figure out where or how to show swing opening lines, if possible.

Can anyone help?

Are you sure you were seeing the opening line with a door set to projected?

The 'projected' display option literally is a cut through the physical 3d model of the door at the floorplan cut plane level. If that curved opening line doesn't exist in 3d, then it shouldn't show in the floorplan with that setting.

I'm happy to be corrected, but I'm curious as to what you were seeing!

Also, if you had the option, I thought it was generally recommended to set doors and windows to symbolic? Setting objects to 'projected' slows down the floorplan redraw speed as it has to recalculate every time you zoom or pan.

Today was a revelation.

Althought the d2 storefront was clearly set to have both opening and swing lines
only the swing lines will show in 3d.

Another funny thing I noticed is that the swing lines are also present in the plan view instead of the opening lines. The swing lines are superimposed on the
door frame lines, which I cannot for the life of me change to a different pen colour other than orange. Also the fill type of the glass panel, no matter what I change it to stays a solid black.

Peter is right - a projected view is simply a slice through the 3D model. Therefore, the 3D pens are used. 2D pens and fills are ignored.

Why do you want a projected view of the door? I've never found that option to be useful.

@Ralph,

at a 1:50 scale it's the most complete representation of the storefront plan.

Actually this is kind of a problem...

I mean I understand the concept of the door being a slice through the 3d model, but this setting can be overwritten with various settings. For example you can set the detail level to "simple" to have a more symbolic representation. Also the dimension marker appears on the projected display type, even if it isn't a physical element.

So I think there should be an option to have opening lines in the project display option.
