I can't believe that you cannot move an object in such a simple way in archicad itself though. So the only ways you can rotate some objects are using 3rd party programs?

As a student, you can use the software free of charge. It automatically recognises student licenses.

You can also give objects the ability to rotate by changing the program that defines it, but even then you can't rotate many objects about a common axis. The purpose of OBJECTiVE is to enable you to do these things with the same simplicity as the rest of ArchiCAD.

Thanks you so much! It works perfectly!!!

<R>Hello comrades!
I was using a space frame in ArchiCAD 13, and it fitted to my building perfectly.
But now I have to use another sort of truss, and I cannot come up with one that lets me change the angle of the pitch.
(that is, I can rotate it on the x axis, but not the y axis)
I tried creating a truss and rotating that but It didn't seem to work.

How do you guys go about changing the angle of things that don't have the option in their parameters?
Cheers!</R>

You can rotate objects with OBJECTiVE. It also adds the required rotation parameters to objects that lack them. Referring to the attache image:

1. In this case, I am viewing the truss in elevation. Select the truss and use the menu <S></S>OBJECTiVE > Tools > Rotate<E></E>. Click the centre of rotation and the start angle.

2. Click (or enter) the end angle for the rotation.

3. The rotated truss. The object will now have rotation parameters for both x and y rotation.

You can rotate objects with OBJECTiVE.

Thanks for you help Ralph!

Except there is no way I can afford that, being a student and all

are there any other ways to go about this, or any freeware programs for Mac? I had a look around but couldn't find any.

EDIT: I found out you can trial the program
