Also check the Google 3D Warehouse for SketchUp models. It shows "about 99" to chose from. If you have SketchUp Pro (which I highly recommend if just for this purpose) you can export as 3DS and ArchiCAD can convert with proper materials and smoothness.

It's perfect for complex but singular things that don't need adjustable geometry. I've found a pretty full library of construction equipment for my simulations there.

The quality of the models is highly variable. Some are crude to the point of useless and some are so detailed (people showing off I think) that you have to simplify them to keep the performance acceptable. I found a crawler crane that had every cable, pulley, link of track and bogey wheel modeled in detail. But the selection is large and growing, and if you can't find just what you want it's easy to change it in SketchUp.

I couldn't find a tracked drill rig I needed so I made one from parts of a crane and stuff. Most os the models are made out of sensible groups and components so it's pretty easy to mash stuff up.

Would you recommend this method much more than using the Google Earth Connections add-on and dropping .skp objects right into ArchiCAD? I ask because we've had to distance ourselves from using the great variety of Google Warehouse because it runs up the polygon face count. I think that runs up the file size and more importantly, affects the timeframe of an Artlantis rendering after exporting into Artlantis. Please correct me if you think that's not true.

Polygon cruncher and other softwares for reducing 3ds size .
I made some nice people for archicad visualisations ( VBE ) navigation
Archicad objects look great from 3ds made by AXYZ (People Business ...etc) simple 3ds but with detailed mapped textures . Look verry realistic without big polygon meshes .

Rafal, I would be interested in taking a look at your cart object but am using AC12. Can you post the older version? Your site lists it as an AC13 object.

Thanks.
