There may be other ways, but I had success building an L shaped stair out of stair elements. I used the Stair Straight Wood 11 & the Wooden Landing. There is no top tread, because it is designed to interface with a landing.

I've had little luck getting the L or U shaped stairs to work.

i get a totally different dialogue box to that when i open my stair settings?

why dont archicad sort out the L-shape and U-shape stairs so they dont add another tread width on mid-flight, the same huge cock-up has been built in since archicad 9 when i started using it.

Hi all,

I am newbie in Archicad 14. I would like to create a staircase with multiple landing which lead from level 1 to level 2. Am I able to create the staircase in one element or do I have to create 2 U-return with landing staircases and stack them on top of each other? Attached is the cut section of the staircase. Please advice. Thank you.

If you are using StairMaker to do it, which comes with ArchiCAD, then you will have to create to U-return stairs.
I would suggest modeling the landing in the middle using the Slab Tool and then create the two Stairs. They may be two instances of the same Stair.

Thank for the advice. Really appreciate it. I have tried the method that you mentioned here and it was really great. but there is a problem with the railing which do not connect to each other between the two flights of stairs. Is there a solution for that?

Yes, they are not connected because they are not part of the same Stair.
I am afraid you will have to create some kind of a custom piece there to connect them.

The quick way to do this would be to use the marquee tool to trim to just this piece at the landing in 3D and save the result as a library part. This could then be placed to connect the separate stairs with SEOs to clean things up as needed.

Really nice trick! To avoid SEO operations, you can modify the 3D script of the object like in the attached screenshot.
