So when you open the 3D window, there is nothing there? Have you tried to "Select All". Maybe there is something like a <S></S>Survey Marker<E></E> located far from the model of the building resulting in it been zoomed out very far when you try to zoom to extents?

custom beam type W24x76. When I attempt to find this type of beam, I am unable to locate it within the design toolbox or from the embedded library.

So in a new project, you added the IFC library, then tried to place this beam using the <S></S>Object Tool<E></E>? I have never tried this. Does it go through the translation process when you add the library?

<T>Hello,

I am fairly new to Archicad but have followed along with online tutorials to learn basics.

I've currently been tasked to recreate a model (created originally in Revit) within Archicad. I've gotten the Revit file converted to an IFC file (through an online converter) and can extract the library parts within Archicad. I am able to save these new objects within the Embedded Library and as an external file. I am also able to place these parts within the converted file perfectly.

However, the file does not allow me to view a 3D figure of the building (even if I pick up and inject view settings into the perspective tab), so I am unable to see what the building is to look like.

I also encounter problems when I try to run a new project and open these same library parts. For instance, in the new object library it has a custom beam type W24x76. When I attempt to find this type of beam, I am unable to locate it within the design toolbox or from the embedded library.

Any explanations on how to fix these would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!</T>

Thank you! I was finally able to view the model in 3D. It was stuck zoomed very far out and all colored in white originally. Using select all and changing the 3D styles made it appear (added shade to the style made it stand out from pure white).

As for the beam problem, I added an image to what I am referring to. Beams 1-4 are a different type of beam, thus have been modified to be an object. I thought the W24x76 beam could be found the same way but it isn't.
I am able to place the object beams without issues into a new program; however the beam in the picture (the type not listed as an object), I am unable to find and am uncertain of how to transfer it's information into a new program. Many of the types that this beam can be changed to from within the original file are not possibilities to change into in a new file.
Is there a way to import these already custom made beams into a new file or will I have to attempt creating them myself?

You can use the Attribute Manager to transfer Complex Profiles between ArchiCAD (.pln) files, which is the type of Beam (rather than Object) you show in your screen shot.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
