Have you tried reviewing the "Migration Guide" located in the ArchiCAD Help? There is a section that explains Library handling.

with AC open , under the help menu, go to downloads. There find the AC10 migration library. This can be loaded in conjunction with the AC13 library.

Also you can always open a 10 file with only the AC10 library loaded. You do not have to use the AC13 library.
Hi Erika, thanks for your suggestion, it worked, my other question is how can i get the materials and cut fills for walls from AC10 onto AC13, as 13 does not have as much choice as 10, besides opening a archicad 10 file in 13 which i have been able to do?

If you want to transfer all the attributes (like materials, fill types etc.), then you should use the Attribute Manager.
Open the AC10 Template file and transfer attributes you need.
