<T>I hope someone can give me some advice upon how to make an object that resembles a jacket, because I've been struggling for a long time to do this, with no success. I have been trying to use ArchiForma mostly. But naturally it's an advantage if I can make it just with ArchiCad. I add a picture of a jacket, but the object does not need to be this detailed.</T>

Hi Anne,

Probably easiest to not make it. <E>🙂</E> See if there is a free 3DS object that looks like what you want?

If you are determined to model it, you'll want to use the mesh tool. I would probably try doing it in two steps, with the jacket laying on the ground. First model the front half, then model the back half. Drag them together and then view the assembled meshes in the 3D window as viewed from the head / top. Save as GDL object, and voila. If it works well enough, go back and add buttons and things.

In ArchiForma, you could try to make pieces of the jacket with the Coons surface, although I'm not sure if the pieces will be easy to 'stitch' together. I think the ArchiCAD mesh tool might be easier.

Cheers,
I Googled and found some sites (no recommendations - have not used them!)...

Archibase:
http://www.archibase.net/download/14169.html

has a jacket that is available as an ArchiCAD gsm ... as well as 3ds. Personally, there is no way I'm downloading anybody's toolbar to access a model file.

http://www.linefour.com
has several jackets

as does
http://www.turbosquid.com

The "References" forum here has threads with links to other free model sites.

Have fun,
Hi Anne

you could maybe build it flat using meshes or something? however i wouldn't recommend it.
if it's for a render would you be able to just add it in photoshop?
