I would suggest using Olivier Dentan's multi-line 3D text objects
available here.
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/archilib.od/
It makes text that can be multi-line, rotated, and curved.

<T>I haven't been working on Archicad for long, and was wondering if there was an easy way to turn text into a 3D object? I started using a mesh, and just outlined the text, but that seems to be real time consuming. Thanks for your help.</T>

Why don't you use the 3D Text object, from the library?

Thanks for your help. I'm now having an issue with curving the text in 3D. I followed the tip about turning the text into a line, which works great, but It doesn't show up for a 3d drawing. Any suggestions. My main goal is to have 3d text within a circular slab.

Without ArchiForma that does this trick easily, you would proceed letter-by-letter.

I take a capitol "N" and multiply it around in a circle for the number of characters needed, then swap out the "N" for the actual letter. SOme spacing is needed, but you do end up with a better product than relying on auto-kerning since kerning isn't designed for such arcing paths....
