How do I change my rank?
In general you cannot directly change the wording of any rank (ranks appear below your username in topics and on your profile depending on the style used). Most boards use ranks to indicate the number of posts you have made and to identify certain users. For example, moderators and administrators may have a special rank. Please do not abuse the board by posting unnecessarily just to increase your rank -- you will probably find the moderator or administrator will simply lower your post count.

<T>I can not to edit the symbol of a archicad 12 window, it does not have a 2d script!! and I gave up...., so I am making my own window as a 3d model and I can easily edit the 2d symbol. .. the problem is when I place the window on the wall it looks good on floor plan but in 3d view the window is outside the wall.. ^&%$^&%!!!
( I will have to create every different size window, because if I make it bigger, the jamb will distort ..) anyway, for now i just want my window to be in the wall , not sticking out .

Does anyone knows how to create a smart/stretchy object ??
any books out there??
Thanks,
My guess is that you saved it as an object. You need to save it as a window to be able to adjust it correctly.
Carmen:

You may have created the window at the wrong "z" height. See page 261 of the AC 12 GDL Reference Guide (DOORS AND WINDOWS) for some information about the correct "z" heights relative to Project Zero when creating doors and windows.
Carmen,
When you finish constructing your model make sure that the bottom center of your window is at the project origin. This will be the starting point for the script. Then(assuming you do it in plan lying flat) raise or lower the entire model so that Project 0 splits it in half horizontally (as seen from an elevation or section view). This should place it in the wall properly.
You wrote:
I am not sure this is right. Would this not cause half of the assembly to
project beyond the outside of the wall ?
I would say raise or lower the entire model so
that the lower face of the frame/jamb is at project 0, the exterior trim
is below project 0 and every thing else is at or above project 0.
Also, make the model on the first floor plan. I once made a window
on a story that was 100 feet below story one and when I placed the
window it showed up 100 feet outside of the wall.
Hi Peter,

I tried this a little while ago and it seemd to work. From what I see the auto script places "Z" zero at the center of the wall and builds the window from there outward. I guess that project zero is "Z" (or ZZYZX) zero in the script.
Well I guess it makes sense now. The project origin is 0,0,0. Correct me if I'm wrong...Autoscript uses the project origin as 0,0,0 in the script. I guess we don't think about plan views having a Z direction because we are looking at onlly 2 dimension. That would explain...
You wrote:
I just re-read the GDL manual about "Special Instructions for
Doors and Windows". In the General Guidelines section it states:

• When constructing the door/window in the floor plan window,
visualize it as if you are looking at it from the inside of the wall it will be
inserted into.
• Think of the project zero level as the external surface of the wall.
• Elements that should be inside the wall, like the window frame, should be above the zero level.
• Door panels opening to the outside should be below the zero level.

Note the second statement, "zero level as the external surface of the wall",
not someplace in the thickness of the wall. Thus, if you want the outside
face of the jamb to be flush with the outside surface of the wall then
in the plan model, as seen in section, the outside surface of the edge of
the frame should be placed at Z=0. I don't understand how you can
get things to work any other way than as described above.
Thanks,
Good morning Peter,

Well, I'm not sure exactly why that window worked last night. After reading your post this morning I created several different windows trying to recreate that scenario. What I found was that you are absolutely right. No matter what I did I could not get a window that was created centered horizontally on the z axis to place correctly in a wall. Actually, you can change it using the "Sill" construction method. Maybe it was set to that. Thanks for making me take a second look. The last thing I want to do is give someone the wrong information.
Hello Marc,
That is indeed strange. Do you recognize what appears to be
another type of door panel on the other side of the diagonal line.
I am assuming that you modeled a complete door, frame, and trim
in the floor plan and saved as a door because you seem to have
prairie style trim and a cleated door panel. It's as if you have
a custom door panel enabled as well as your modeled panel.
I have never seen this before. I do not do many auto scripted doors
or custom door panels
The lines to the right of the diagonal are a window on a wall in the background. Actually, I only modeled a door panel, which I then
placed as a custom panel in a D1 12 DOOR.
It is also essential that the project origin 0,0,0 is at the middle of the bottom of the door.

Same for all the objects that you create from the plan. ALWAYS model them so that the default insertion point is at 0,0,0
