I'm confused Peter ... which part did you think was AC 12 only? You can open dwg as object since at least 6.5 AFAIK.

<T>I know there is a way to convert a 3-D object that was created in Autocad into a library part for ArchiCAD I just cant remember how.

I have a very extensive collection of .dwg models of everything from Aircraft to tanks and I would like to use them in ArchiCAD but I am having trouble figuring out a way to translate them in 3-D.</T>

Hi Chris,

I'm fairly sure this is a AC12 only procedure unfortunately. (I can't see AC12 in your signature.)

See here -

<S><A href="</s><LINK_TEXT text="http://www.archicadwiki.com/Open%20DWG% ...
This may help? -
My apologies, I thought that 3d dwg was natively saved in ACIS format that only AC12 could read. Reading the reference guide again, it is clearly not. I'm getting confused

I will shut up now! Sorry!

Thank you all this was most helpful. I might be submitting the converted parts to the Depository as I convert them and add parameters to the GDL Scripting once they are converted to library parts.

That is when I have time to do it.

Thanks in advance for doing that.
If there can be one suggestion: make sure to clean up the 2D Symbol of the created GDL, you can use the Line Consolidation Tool for this fairly well.
