Use a complex profile (draw the molding as if the window was on the floor) with a wall and then save that profile as an object.

Using the complex profile means that you draw the section of the moulding so curves are no problem.

Thank Eduardo,
But I might be doing something wrong or I don't understand how to create profiles, I drew the "profile" of the molding but this is what I get (picture) but how do I make it to suround the window?

How to create an Object which is in page 319 of the Archicad Reference Guide.pdf located under your help menu.

switching to spanish
__
pasos a seguir

Right. And the reason to do it as Eduardo says is that you want the 'vertical' and 'horizontal' elements to join seamlessly. Only the wall tool supports such joining. Thus, you build the 'frame' with little walls on the ground, and then create an object from it.

Cheers,
Thanks Eduardo and Karl,
But I have a problem, I created the object but when I want to place it on the floor plan, the object shows in plan (like any other object like a bed, chair, etc)., it doesn't stick to the wall surounding the window,
should I have to save it like a door or window object?

You need to be looking at your custom object from a viewpoint that you want it to be inserted in plan.

In other words, select your object, goto 3d projection settings, select parallel projection, elevation view, and camera azimuth to 90.

When you are in that view in 3d, then save the object as an object.

I have another 2 questions,

1.-How do I make the object so the picking hotspots are on the inside of the frame so when I place it or dimension it will be around the window or to give it the same measurement as the window I am putting the frame over.

2.- I tried to make my object the cut surfaces (cut fill, cut line pens, etc) as the same as my wall, I tried to input this in the floor plan and section section but it doesn't display it.

see the image.

Thanks again!

For #1
Open the object - File > Libraries > Open Object
Open 2D display Window
Put the Hotspots where you need them
You can also add fills for the cut elements

For #2
The easy way (and I might be wrong since I have not tried it) is to make sure that the custom profile has the same materials as the wall.

How can I change the dimensions settings for my object?
If you look at the picture, my window width is 0.90 mts/, when I opened the object to place it on the plan, I input the measurement of 0.90 width, but it seems that the object's measurements in the parameter's box is related to the exterior points instead of the interior points (where my hotspots are) and is very dificult to give the right measurement to the object, how can I make it so when I give dimensions of the object, it takes the measurements where the hotspots are?
Thanks!

rucailo wrote:
How can I change the dimensions settings for my object?

Your saved-from-model object is NOT 'smart' and thus you should not stretch it or adjust the dimensions. (How to do that with the inside dims anyway is a bit involved.)

If you stretch your object, it will distort. Thus, with the method used for creating it, you must create the molding the correct size in the first place, and make a separate molding for every window that has a different size. Each is a "one off".

Creating a smart/stretchy object is another story altogether...
Thanks Karl, that sounds complicated, is it?
Any ideas how to begin creating a smart object? I use this window frame very often in my designs and will be great if I can create one that will be "parametric" and use it in diferent sizes.
I thought that creating an object as I did, this could be placed in with diferent sizes, but I guess not..
I appreciatte your comments,
