Then I would extract the library container (File > Libraries and Objects > Create/Extract a Container) from there in Windows explorer I would edit sub folder names to minimise path lengths and also not have folders within folders, a ‘wide’ shallow file structure is preferable to a ‘narrow’ deep file structure.
MISSING LIBRARY

<R>" THE LIBRARY CONTAINS ONE OR MORE LIBRARY PARTS WHOSE PATH IS TOO LONG; THE LIBRARY CANNOT BE ADDED TO THE ACTIVE LIBRARIES"

- I have the missing libraries and I have tried to add them. Basically search with browser and add the library. However the error message above appears. Anyone know why and what to do ?

- is this a question of the directory address not matching the original file source directory ? Or is is really a question of something (i.e the path directory ) being too long ?

Weird- I have put the library on my desktop so as to avoid a "long path directory" when adding the missing files. which I I assume what is meant when it says "PATH IS TOO LONG"

Any help please? note: the missing files are libraries so --- .icf files as well as reference to a general folder called library22

@atfonit
Look, the only solution to the last mentioned problem, is to change the location of your uploaded library part so that you never reach the 260 characters mark (<S></S>path, filename, and file extension included<E></E>), and that is the easy fix.

This method is also applicable to Windows 7, you just have to google it.

On other hand, I was asking that if I can extend the characters path limit safely in windows, why ArchiCAD does't accept it !!!

fyi, I tired this and it still didn't work. I put the library file on my desktop so no real path as such to hinder the process and with short file name - the problem still exists - saying file name too long.
Very Weird....
I am wondering if because its a french library its not recognizing the text ? i am trying to add in a FR in to a INT version of ArchiCAD22.

Try C-drive as Moonlight has suggested.
The desktop still has the path ... C:\Users\username\Desktop
This could be just enough to still tip you over the limit.
Also it is possible to have Library Container Files (LCF) within LCFs.
So you may find there are other containers to extract within the main one, and possibly the file path length in those is the problem.
Scott thanks for the reply :

Not familiar with the CREATE OR EXTRACT a container "command".
So I understand - instead of adding in the library through the library manager - you propose I create and extract a LCF (Library container file) of the file in question ?

The file I am having problems with, is the ArchiCAD 22 library (French version). As I am opening a file done in AC 22 French and bringing it into AC 22 English version.

Having never used this command - you suggest I create or extract - or both ? I guess the idea being to breakdown the folder in doing so so as to avoid as you say - a narrow deep scenario in place of a shallow wide option?
If it is the standard Graphisoft library that you are using, then the file path shouldn't be a problem so long as it is saved close to the root directory of your C-drive.

Extracting the LCF file will just allow you to see and manipulate if necessary the folder structure of the library.
Extracting (and creating) adn LCF file can be done from the library manager in Archicad.
You then load the extracted library instaed of the LCF library.
LCF libraries do load a little faster, so unless you need to edit the library don't extract it.

But as I said there should be no need to do this if it is a standard Graphisoft library.
If the library works in the French version (which I assume it does otherwise there would have been may complaints), then I would assume it would work in the English version as well.

If I get a chance later I will download the French version and see if I can load the library.
Barry Thanks,

I can also send you the file by dropbox or we transfer? too large to attach here.

I am on a PC - not a MAC, btw. This should not be an issue normally right, but if testing "apples for apples" then if it works on a MAC at your end, it doesn't necessarily mean the library file is good to add. and free of errors etc i.e. could just be a PC issue.

That said, yes its the standard AC 22 library file french version. Same as comes with AC as standard in any language.

Screenshot attached of what is in the folder.
NOTE : Its the actiuak folder that was being added in and not the .icf files seperately.

MAIN FOLDER --> “Bibliothèque ARCHICAD 22“ --> inside this are those files and sub-folders shown in the screenshot.
Barry Thanks :

--> Are the contents in the folder the same as shown in the attachement?
Ok, so we know the FR version will not install under the one licence key.

--> The second issue regarding the library file, remains a mystery.....
I have tried all locations including the default location like you - but it gives the error message each time -SAYING "file may be corrupt and cannot be added to the Active library"

Finally, despite the error message -its odd that when I look in the folder itself (info) - clearly there are folders and files that appear to have been added, despite the message..unless I read this wrong. i.e. folder and sub folders in light and dark grey. (attachment file_load3_AC22.jpg)

Any way of checking ?
<S></S>interesting that the x2 screen shot EN and FR show the same library details but, clearly show a different number of elements/ in the EN version versus the FR version. These shots were taken from withing the library manager for the same file but one opened on a french version of AC the other on an EN version of AC.<E></E>
