I tried the following to test "custom wallniche creation".
I drew one slab with the shape and thickness I wanted
for the back wall of the niche and made it's underside elevation
equal to the depth of the niche. I then copied this slab and pasted
into the plan in the same place as the first slab. I selected one
of the slabs and changed it's ID to wallhole and opened
the 3D window and saved as a window.
The 3D view of the niche looked fine but in 2D it was not correct.
I found I had to set wall contours to "None", open the part
for editing and draw in the 2D symbol window the lines and fills
I wanted to make the 2D symbol look the way I wanted.
Hi Peter.
Thank you so much for your support.
I've tried your method, but I get the same problem in 3D (the created hole is rectangular, and I want it to be curved on top). I don't know what I'm doing wrong. With the "Wallhole" ID the result is ok, but with "Walniche" ...
Anyway, can you please explain why did you duplicate your slab (in AC10 Reference Guide, they don't say nothing about that). Maybe it's a trick or something?
Thank you again.
Works for me with editable and I get your result when saved as binary.
My 2D view however shows an empty opening in both cases.
Hi Barry.
Strange thing is that I thought I've tried that option; but now, after saving it with "editable script", it seems to work just fine. (2D shows correctly if I choose "Projected" mode for the floor plan display)
Thank you so much for your suggestion.
Hi Peter,
Thank you so much for your quick reply.
Here are the settings in the 2D Symbol window. (if I manually draw a line there using the pen I want, nothing happens with the floor plan display - the blue line remains there). Am I missing something?
I am surprised that the 2D symbol has nothing in it.
Did you delete what AC drew ?
Also, I do not know what you finally decided about
setting the window to be symbolic or projected
and if you set wall contours to none.
I have mine set to symbolic and with no contours.
I drew in the wall contour lines and the sill line
in the 2D symbol window.
Peter,
I haven't deleted anything in the 2D symbol window. I don't know why it shows like that.
Anyway, I guess I've chosen projected type for floor plan display because it showed the niche almost as I wanted (the only problem being that blue line).
I've set it to symbolic and with no contours now and it behaves just like you've said. I've followed your method and now it shows correctly (still I am a bit surprised by the fact that I have to draw manually the fill in the 2D symbol window, which can be a little bit frustrating if I want to change the wall's cut fill).
Thank you again for all your support.
Guess I was too hurried to speak about the fills. I've discovered that I can add a new variable in the <parameters> box which allows me to easily choose the fill type only by opening the settings window (without having to open the object and change the fill in the 2D symbol window). Guess I've forgotten to say that I'm new to GDL
