Is there a program out there that converts a whole bunch of 3DS objects to GDL objects at once instead of converting one at a time?

It is called Archicad. With or without help from MaxonForm.

Help menu -> ArchiCAD 10 Goodies...3DS import
Have fun and remember that some .3ds models are heavy as in really heavy.
