Hello David,
wow - i was just about to purchase the upgrade to 11!
People have already kindly sent me the object but as Peter wisely mentioned - and i quickly realised; AC 11 Objects can't be used in AC10.
It is sad to discover that the AC11 Magical window object will not solve my problems on this project..

<T>Hello!

I am trying to build a series of window obects (or rather modify existing ones) to represent these windows.

I need fixed base with top hung awning BUT 3 ribboned or up to 4 at times..
As well as the opposite Fixed top with top hung transom..

I just can't seem to get it as one window with 3 horizontal sections.. and have bought a bunch of promising 'window building objects' that I fail to get work and only just end up with a bunch of code errors.

Any ideas or suggestions? : )</T>

I don't know if you have this window object in the AC10 Library, but in AC11 (USA) there is "W F Casement Combi 11" that does what you are describing and more (without buying any non-standard objects). It is a single unit that, like all other GS windows, can be ganged together.

Hello David,
There is a "W F Casement Combi 10.gsm" in the AC 10 US library
but that is not the only issue here. The author of this thread is
located in Australia so is probably using the AUS version of the
AC library. I have learned in the past year or so that the various
localized versions of the AC library can be very different.
For example the "W1 Casement 10" in the US library is quite
different than the "W1 Casement 10" in the AC 10 INT library.
When I first saw this thread I was going to see what I could find
but then concluded that this was useless because I had a different
localized version of the library and hoped someone with the AUS
version would help out. My comment here is in no way meant
to correct you but to emphasize an issue with Archicad that is
becoming more serious every year as the localized versions diverge.
Peter,

I've been told that GS is trying to "solidify" their varying Library versions due to previous comments similar to yours. I am always being asked to share the "USA" version of Library Parts. Hopefully the Object Depository will eventually be a good resource for GS to help support the varying legacy Libraries.
Andy Thomson is doing amazing work with the aim of consolidating a common global library, based on the INT, GER and US libraries of today (if I got it right). Unfortunately, at the moment there seems to be some problem with the website www.archicad.ca. Hopefully, Graphisoft will take action to fix this immediately - this work is long overdue!
The Aus Library is terrible at the moment.. It has little standard commercial items that I need and I find my self constantly buying new object which turn out having some sort of bug or preventing issue which renders them almost useless.. I find my self wasting more time looking for objects and trying to customise them than actually working.. I should probably do a course in gdl creation – but where would that time in the day come from!

Also the jump between the 9 and 10 library whilst impressive in the customability of some objects, left many other key objects behind..

I would assume as a program like this develops, objects should not get removed but replaced with better more efficient and easy to modify objects.

Would someone be willing to share this fantastic sounding window object with me by any chance?
Thank you kindly for sending me the direct glazed window object Peter!

Unfortunately, this object isn't fulfilling exactly what i require;

I can can successfully control the upper or lower transoms with top hung awnings accordingly, but i am unable to have multiple 'ribbons' of the window in a row.. I was hoping that i could have three identical windows (or more) in the one casement like in the "w ribbon 10.gsm"

My way around this now will be to use an old sill object to have one continuous sill across a 2700 with the additional 3 w direct glazed windows.. unless there is a more efficient and optimal way??

David: Does the version 11 combi object have that functionality? would it be possible to send it to me or will it not operate correctly in archicad 10?

Chrissy,
An AC 11 object cannot be used in AC 10.
An object saved in a later version cannot be opened or used
in an earlier version. You get an "Unknown Version" error.
The AC11 version of the window is a single unit, but it does have the ability to "gang" with others. Do you need the window to be 3-bays because the actual unit that you are specifying is a 3-bay unit? If not, the "ganging" option should work.

I looked at the code of the object. It seems to be using AC10 macros, so the AC10 version that you received from Peter probably has the same options.
See this is an example of another typical set up I am looking to replicate..

<frame>awning<frame>awning<frame>
<frame>window<frame>window<frame>

but because i am using individual window objects rather than ribboned i get:

<frame>awning<frame><frame>awning<frame>
