Adding a custom made door handle macro

I have created a custom made door handle which I would to use with the existing ArchiCAD doors in the library. I know it has to do with a macro being called/ executed in the GDL script but I think a step by step tutorial similar to that of createing a custom made door panel would be welcome.

Please read about Custom Components on page 189 of
the AC Reference Guide. It specifically mentions custom
door knobs. This assumes you are working in AC 10.
If you are on a previous version you might be able
to substitute the code for the default door knob
with the code for your custom door knob.
