I have used D3 Smartpart DW builder since AC 6.5 and continue to use it as well as D&W Builder from CadImage. I have made custom doors out of slabs etc. and brought them in to D3 as a custom door which then allows you to use all of the trim & frame macros as you would for one of the stock doors. which is very nice. I would recommend it and I don't know any GDL although learning some is on my wishlist if I ever get some time.

<T>Is anyone using D3 Smart Parts? In particular, the doors and windows. I like some of the other options (CADimage, etc.) but unless I have missed something, the others won't allow custom trim profiles.

What is the most flexible door and window builder available in terms of custom profiles, sticking etc.?
Are you actually still using Archicad 8.1? If so, it may limit your options. I know a lot of people like Door and Window builder.

Personally, I tend more toward the "build it yourself and save it as an object" approach (no GDL required)
