<T>Hi I'm relatively new to this message board but I have been searching for any gdl object that resembles a train track. I've searched extensively on the internet from different gdl sites and have been unsuccessful. Or is there a quick way i can create a set of tracks. The project im working on at school is for a future proposal site, so I am also looking for any new metro cart gdl objects if they exist. can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks</T>

Did you look at the Street & Traffic library in the Object Repository? I feel like there was something in there (I might be wrong, though)

yea i remember someone saying that elsewhere and ive triple checked, it has railroad gates, truss girder, basically all the components of a railway stop on a street but no tracks...unless im going blind

Would that be my best bet? I just need a good rendering with the tracks there...its for a final presentation for school...its doesn't have to be too too technical

Curved or straight? I think beams can only be straight.

Remember that you can use the beam for both rails at once; the fills in the profile need not be contiguous. You might even be able to include the railroad ties with a clever use of the material settings - though that would require setting the 3D texture orientation for each section of track. Unfortunately you will have to put together straight segments since the complex profiles don't do curves yet.
