<R>Hello
Anyone know where I can find a good truss object which allows me to set overhangs:

I want to try to avoid using trussmaker or creating a new object as I find these to be relatively slow, especially when you're making lots of changes and trying different options.

In early stage of the sketch design, when thing are still going through lots of changes, I usually use the standard AC9 Pitched Howe Truss which is fully parametric. I then add the overhang with a separate rafter object using roof wizard as the 'Pitched Howe Truss' object does not allow one to set overhangs.

thanks</R>

Does the Truss Set on Objects Online do that?

If not, maybe I should write one that does and add it on there...

(maybe with graphic hotspots for variable slope and overhang size....)

That's almost exactly what I was imagining, but I can't help feel like the overhangs and slope should have hotspots to control them.
Well Tom, if you create a Truss Object make sure that the Height at Heel Parameter works correctly. If you say want an Extra 1/4" or 2" (for a 8" or so total Heel Height) added to the Heel Height of the TrussPro Object and it does not display properly in 3D especially with the OpenGL Engine.
An example: for a 7 1/2" Top Chord (6:12), 5.5" Bottom Chord (3:12), any Heigh Height under 0'-11 3/16" displays erratically.

Jay

by "Does not display right", do you mean that it overlaps itself and seems to turn inside out? Or is there another problem I'm not seeing? Or that there are still extra lines when you set the clip plane?

(man, those seem like obvious problems!!)
Thansk fo rall the helpfull feedback. Unless I'm mistaken, it seems that AC9 international version does not come with the TrussPro object.
In the meantime I'll have a look at ObjectsOnline to see what they have to offer.

I've tried the demo of Truss Set. Unless its a limitation of the demo verison, it does not seem to have setting for overhangs.

However Truss-DL from the same site works very well with overhangs - It's basically what I was after.

Thanks for the tip
