topic Material File Size in Libraries & objects

<T>I have color samples from a metal roof vendor that I want to incorporate into our standard library. The samples are a single solid color, therefore they have no seams. Is it better to have a small image size -- say 20x20 -- to keep the library size down; or is it better to have a large image size -- maybe 500x500 -- so it repeats less in the 3D window? Does the size of the sample affect ArchiCAD's speed at all?</T>

If the material is for LightWorks, I'd use Color Class Shader "Plain" to match the color of the sample and add a little Displacement Class Shader "Rough" .01, .01, 1, 1.

For texture maps in general, the smaller the better.
This is addressed in the "LightWorks in ArchiCAD" book on page 110-111.

Larger samples take more time to render and consume more RAM, but even 500x500 is not large.
